Topic B: Sarco pod - the 3D printed ethical conundrum

Hello Delegates!

Hope position paper writing is going well for all of you. I am very excited to be reading your solutions and writeups.

Some of you may have heard this on the news recently. Some of you may be wondering what this fictitious-looking object is.

Dr. Philip Nitschke, also known as Dr. Death due to his activism for assisted suicide, has built a 3D printed pod that allows people to take their own lives painlessly, the NY time reported. By using this pod, users can bypass the arduous efforts necessary for assisted suicide as this is self-initiated. This invention has caused an international outcry in countries such as the United Kingdom and the United States, claiming that it glamorizes suicide, and affects individuals that otherwise would not think to take their own life. With many countries and individuals challenging not only the ethics of the pod, but euthanasia as a whole.

I highly encourage you to read this article or find your own sources on futuristic methods and ideas that arise from such a complicated topic as euthanasia. Feel free to comment below about your thoughts or should you find something interesting. Thanks for reading!
